Band 5 Biomedical Scientist Histology, 37.5 hours per week 12 month fixed term contract
Salary: Biomedical Scientist ( £29970 to 36483)
Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Histology Department.
Applications are invited from HCPC registered BMS's with experience in Histology.
The Histology department is UKAS ISO 15189 accredited. We use Telepath LIMS with ICE electronic requesting and reporting, and Q-Pulse quality management system.
Main duties of the job
The diagnostic workload in Histology is approx. 24,000 requests. The main duties will include sample processing, embedding, microtomy, IHC, special stains, and category A tissue dissection.
The department is approved for training by the HCPC and IBMS, and you will be encouraged to participate in CPD. Evidence of good planning, organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as competence in problem solving and prioritising workloads, is essential. Excellent communication skills are also required.
