Join Different Strokes, a national charity led by young stroke survivors for young stroke survivors. There are 100,000 strokes in the UK every year, and 1 in 4 of these happen to someone of working age or younger. We aim to promote independent stroke recovery and help younger stroke survivors to reclaim their lives.
We are a small national charity that really cares about what we do. We are in an exciting period of growth and are looking to expand our team. We are seeking a passionate individual to manage and develop our support services, and you will play a vital role in ensuring that we continue to provide the best services to stroke survivors in as many ways as possible.
Responsibilities:
1. Support our network of autonomous local groups across the UK.
2. Liaise with our volunteers that run the groups and advise on areas such as funding, marketing, and governance.
3. Assist individuals interested in setting up new groups.
4. Manage our online support group, telephone peer support service, befriending service, virtual meetings, and webinars.
5. Line manage staff that deliver these specific projects.
6. Develop plans to further enhance our services.
The ability to communicate effectively is essential, as is experience of working with volunteers.
The role would be based in our office in Milton Keynes but will require regular visits to our groups across the UK. There is also the potential for this to be a hybrid role with some home working.
This is a full-time permanent position. Occasional weekend work will be required.
Applications are particularly welcome from individuals who have been personally affected by stroke.
Interviews to be held w/c 28th April in Milton Keynes. If you have any accessibility requirements regarding the interview please let us know.
