The Role In addition to teaching, the Contingent Commander will provide strong, creative and visionary leadership of the Brighton College CCF in order for it to remain one of the leading contingents in the South East. This will require the person to: Plan, oversee and quality-assure an exciting and challenging programme of cadet training Create leadership opportunities for cadets and to nurture their leadership skills Foster an environment in which, because effort is held in higher regard than achievement, all cadets can excel Line-manage the School Staff Instructor (SSI) and all CFAVs. Main Duties and Responsibilities Teach a slightly reduced academic timetable in any subject Oversee all aspects of personnel administration, ensuring all statutory College and MOD process are followed, the Contingents Governance and national cadet databases (WESTMINSTER and BADER) Line manage the SSI and all CFAVs Plan at a strategic level the Contingents training programme for the year ahead and ensure the effective delivery of the programme Allocate cadets and CFAVs to Sections, Watches and Flights, task NCOs within those formations, and publish Weekly Orders Ensure high standards of discipline and attendance of cadets and CFAVs while undertaking CCF training In conjunction with the SSI and Heads of Section, organise all aspects of Field Days and Summer Camps, including the booking of all training areas, transport, accommodation and catering and the completion of all internal and military paperwork in relation to such activities Liaise with Army, RN and RAF Cadet Training Teams and their Safety Advisors to ensure that cadets get the best possible benefit from our assets and that safe training occurs Attend all chain of command Contingent Commander conferences and briefings and oversee the management and administration of applications for training courses for CFAVs and cadets Process all military paperwork and electronic forms requested of Contingent Commanders by HQSE, CCF RN HQ, and RAFAC HQ Co-ordinate and lead the preparations for and delivery of all annual/biennial reviews, inspections and reports Act as budget-holder for all CCF accounts and take responsibility for all financial reconciliations required by the MOD In conjunction with the SSI, oversee all aspects of contingent security including weapons maintenance, ammunition accountability and act as a point of contact for Armoury alarm company Act as the Contingents Senior Activity Owner and as such, take responsibility and lead on all aspects of Health and Safety in relation to the CCF Lead and co-ordinate the Contingents contribution to the Schools annual Act of Remembrance Organise the Contingents Annual Mess Dinner for CFAVs, SNCOs and cadets Maintain and develop all external relations, including sponsoring units and local contingents, including Longhill School as their supporting CCF unit Provide opportunities for cadets to take part in unit and external shooting competitions. Safeguarding responsibilities This role will involve daily contact with pupils and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
