Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our highly skilled and motivated Pathology Blood Sciences Team at Harrogate District Hospital. The post will be based in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory. The Pathology team at Harrogate is highly regarded having an excellent reputation with service users. The post would suit anyone who already holds the IBMS Registration Portfolio and HCPC registration. A candidate that will complete registration within 3 months will be considered. The post will be based predominantly in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections. The individual must have a minimum of 3 months experience working in an NHS Blood Science department, ideally Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion. Once competent, the candidate will be expected to work nights and weekends. The candidate may be supported to complete the IBMS specialist diploma in Haematology and hospital Blood Transfusion Main duties of the job The Haematology Department has two Sysmex XN-1000 full blood count analysers and two Werfen Tops 550 coagulation analysers. Blood transfusion has two Grifols Blood Grouping analysers. The post is for 37.5 hours per week. Once competent the successful candidate will be required to carry out weekend working and working unsociable hours, which attracts a substantially enhanced rate of pay with a hybrid on call local agreement. The successful individual may also be supported to complete the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology and Hospital Blood Transfusion.
