Geography Teacher Location: Secondary School in Hyde Position: Full-time, permanent Start Date: April Job Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Hyde, starting in April. The successful candidate will join a supportive and dynamic department and will be responsible for teaching Geography across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This is a full-time, permanent role, offering the opportunity to shape the Geography curriculum and inspire students to engage with key global issues such as climate change, human geography, and environmental sustainability. Key Responsibilities: Lesson Planning and Delivery: Teach engaging and high-quality Geography lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering both human and physical geography topics. Differentiation: Plan lessons that cater to the diverse abilities and needs of all students, including those with SEND and high achievers. Assessment and Feedback: Mark and assess students’ work regularly, providing constructive feedback to help them develop their understanding of geographical concepts and improve their exam performance. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the Geography curriculum, ensuring it is up-to-date, relevant, and stimulating for students. Extracurricular Activities: Encourage students’ interest in Geography outside the classroom through trips, events, and extracurricular activities. Behaviour Management: Maintain a positive learning environment and manage classroom behaviour effectively. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other departments and colleagues to enhance cross-curricular links and develop students’ broader understanding of the world. Personal Development: Take part in regular professional development opportunities to continue improving teaching practice and staying up to date with the latest educational trends. Essential Qualifications & Skills: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Degree in Geography or a related subject. Experience teaching Geography at secondary level, ideally including GCSE and/or A-level. Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and exam specifications for Geography. Excellent communication and organisational skills. A passion for Geography and the ability to inspire students to appreciate the subject.
