What you'll be doing:
Lead and manage a high-performance team, promoting Veolia's Purpose and Values while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including COMAH, IPPC, and IRR17.
Oversee operational aspects of the incineration process, providing technical expertise and governance to mitigate major accident hazards and support customer duty of care audits.
Manage all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, performance management, training, succession planning, and maintaining positive industrial relations.
Analyze productivity data, optimize staffing and production capacity, and lead the production planning process to ensure efficient operations and effective communication.
Spearhead innovation projects, lead operational/technical projects up to £1m, and support Management of Change (MoC) proposals to improve quality, productivity, and profitability.
Develop and review departmental KPIs, provide comprehensive monthly reports, and lead safety investigations to determine root causes of accidents and incidents.
Ensure compliance with Veolia Management Requirements (VMR) and fulfill responsibilities as Senior Authorised Person, including overseeing risk assessments, work instructions, and permit-to-work systems.
Manage and deliver the operational plan, including a budget incineration revenue plan, while controlling operational expenses and participating in best practice sharing initiatives across Veolia UK&I.
What we're looking for:
Extensive knowledge of COMAH regulations, Major Accident Hazard (MAH) scenarios, and mitigation controls
Proficiency in managing Environmental Permit consent limits and waste processing routes, with a strong understanding of optimum control parameters
Expertise in plant control systems, equipment, and Safe System of Work controls, including Safety Rules and management of high-hazard work
Exceptional customer focus, with the ability to gather and utilize customer feedback for service improvements and maintain effective relationships
Strong innovation management skills, including the ability to evaluate creative ideas, manage the creative process, and facilitate effective brainstorming sessions
Proven experience in managing and measuring work, including clear task assignment, objective setting, and performance monitoring
Demonstrated ability to bring innovative ideas to market and anticipate their potential impact in the industry
