Reporting into the Site Director, the Engineering Manager is a crucial part of the Aurorium leadership team. The successful candidate, in addition to excellent engineering & maintenance acumen, will be driven, curious, customer-focused, business-savvy and able to make the role their own through continuous improvement and value adding activities. Aurorium is a close multi-functional and diverse global team, so the ability to quickly establish rapport and build working relationships is essential.
Description
1. To provide specialist support and advice to Site Management on engineering matters at all stages of the Company's operations to mitigate against major accident or incidents.
2. Implementation and control of standards used in the construction, inspection, operation and maintenance of plant and equipment to maintain the appropriate level of integrity.
3. Liaison with statutory, industry and academic bodies on matters relating to construction, inspection, operation and maintenance of chemical manufacturing facilities.
4. Responsible for the installation of new plant, and changes to existing plant and equipment, to appropriate standards within the Management of Change system.
5. To act as the facilities subject-matter-expert on matters of mechanical integrity, including providing an appropriate review of 3rd party equipment assessment reports.
6. To ensure that all critical assets have suitable care programmes and effective routine maintenance plans set up in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practice - including site utilities and services to ensure the efficient use of energy.
7. To ensure that an appropriate spares strategy is in place and maintained.
8. To ensure that all necessary inspection records, drawings, etc. are maintained up to date.
9. To implement, report on and drive improvements to appropriate KPI's to enhance functional performance.
10. To manage capital projects and associated budgets and deliver on time in full. Oversee similar work undertaken by other personnel.
11. To proactively identify and actively participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities to enhance business performance.
12. To provide specialist support as necessary to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the production units to ensure production plans are met.
13. To be the go to functional expert for all Maintenance, Reliability and Mechanical issues.
14. Maintain and communicate knowledge of best practice, new regulations and standards to ensure Site Operations meet regulatory requirements.
15. Review and approve placement of contracts, initiating/managing negotiation of contracts for services required to support Site Operations.
16. Responsible for the development of the Maintenance function's annual budgets and for the monitoring and control of maintenance expenditure by ensuring efficient work management and cost control/cost reporting by the Maintenance department.
17. Approve, initiate development, audit and monitor departmental procedures and work methods to ensure consistent controlled productive application.
18. To undertake other duties as may be required Implement and deliver the benefits of an effective Maintenance and Reliability strategy to Continuously Improve functional performance aligned to Operational Excellence and Business Goals.
19. To take responsibility for learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self, the team and the business.
20. To assist in the training, mentoring and assessment of other team members.
21. To exercise autonomy and judgement.
Profile
1. Proven experience in Maintenance/Reliability and Projects within Chemical/Petrochemical environment.
2. Wide knowledge of engineering practice and chemical plant maintenance - Other manufacturing backgrounds will definitely be considered.
3. Management of multi-disciplined departments in maintenance and project activities.
4. Contractual administration and financial/budgetary control and management.
5. Communication with Local Authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Contracts and Consultants.
6. A solid career to date in engineering maintenance management roles.
7. Strong Leadership skills in this field.
8. A proven track record in manufacturing.
9. Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification.
10. Professional accreditation - a Chartered Engineer - would be welcomed / advantageous but not essential.
Job Offer
£65,000 to £70,000 plus bonus and benefits, depending on skills and experience. Relocation packages will also be considered in some circumstances.
