Job summary We are looking for a motivated and professional Senior Paediatric Nurse to take on the roles and responsibilities of Senior Paediatric Sister within a busy Paediatric Emergency Department. The successful candidate will work with the current Band 7 team supported by the Paediatric Matron for the Emergency Department managing the team of nurses, ensuring they are supported and achieving own and Trust appointed goals. Whilst maintaining high standard of care for all children that attend the Paediatric Emergency Department. Main duties of the job The Senior Sister / Charge nurse within the Paediatric Emergency department will supportand lead staff to ensure high quality care is delivered to those attending the department.The role carries the continuing responsibility for the management of the department, as delegated by the Matron for Paediatric Emergency Services, together with the provision of a twenty four hour expert emergency nurse service. The role includes working closely and effectively with the multi-disciplinary team in the management of the Emergency Department. This includes the support and leadership provided to nursing and support staff within the Paediatric Emergency Department and across the Emergency Floor. The role also includes the continuing responsibility for the effective delivery of the philosophy, policies, and standards of care and morale of the department in line with the Trust values - Caring, Safe, Responsible and Valuing each other. The post holder will aim to ensure that all patients are provided with a safe and high quality standard of care. They will be aware of the Care Quality Commission standards, Key performance Indicators, Dashboard Measures and Care Quality Indicators for emergency care. They will support the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that they are maintained. The post holder also has clinical, teaching, managerial, and staff development responsibilities.
