Job Title: Engineering Team Lead
Location: Clitheroe, UK
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (6am – 2pm, one week; 2pm – 10pm, the following week)
About the Role:
We are seeking an Engineering Team Lead to join a dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a leadership mindset to lead the maintenance team and oversee day-to-day engineering activities, ensuring the reliability of equipment across the site. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintenance, engineering, and managing a team, with a background in manufacturing environments such as pharma, food, FMCG, medical, or aerospace.
As the Engineering Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in prioritising and delivering the KPIs within the engineering department. You will be the first point of contact for the Engineering Manager and external stakeholders, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment reliability, as well as assisting in the planning and delivery of daily engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Management & Coordination: Lead, distribute, and monitor the maintenance team’s work to ensure the completion of a Planned Maintenance Program to optimise equipment reliability and performance.
* Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Lead engineering Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence of equipment issues.
* Continuous Improvement: Support the improvement of equipment, safety, efficiency, changeovers, and reducing downtime.
* Compliance & Documentation: Assist in implementing QMS documentation (change controls, deviations, CAPAs) in the engineering works across the site.
* Regulatory Standards: Ensure calibration services are performed in accordance with work orders and regulatory standards.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage in Tier 1 meetings for manufacturing and packing, communicating necessary actions to the engineering team.
* Admin & Reporting: Oversee daily administration such as shift handovers and the completion of the DRM board.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
* Team Leadership: Proven experience in managing and leading teams within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Industry Experience: Experience in the pharmaceutical, food, or chemical industries is highly desirable, but not essential.
* Technical Expertise: Familiarity with production equipment such as filling lines, conveyors, packaging lines, autoclaves, tablet presses, granulators, WFI, and heat sterilizers is preferred.
* Electrical Bias: An electrical background is ideal but not mandatory.
* Coaching & Development: Experience managing, coaching, and developing colleagues.
* Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills with a natural ability to plan and organise.
* DBS Check: A basic DBS check is required, which will be paid for by the employer.
