We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly respected educational setting in Bournemouth, commencing on 22nd April 2025, following the Easter break. About the school: This Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school provides a nurturing and dynamic learning environment tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs. The school is dedicated to helping young people become independent, confident, and successful adults by fostering strong relationships that enable them to access the curriculum and the support available. The school supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and those with additional needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. A strong emphasis is placed on personal development, equipping students with strategies to move from co-regulation to self-regulation and independence. The school day runs from 8.30am to 4pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, and from 8.30am to 3.15pm from Wednesday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Your Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide personalised support tailored to each student's learning style and needs. Promote emotional and social well-being, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment. Assist teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences, tracking progress, and building students' confidence. Develop engaging learning strategies under the guidance of the teacher. Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns. Collaborate with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development. What We’re Looking For: Experience supporting children or adults with special educational needs. While not essential, a willingness to assist with personal care when required would be beneficial. A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Adaptability and a willingness to support varied learning styles. A patient, caring, and empathetic approach. Strong communication and listening skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported.
