Job Title: Assistant Accountancy Officer Starting Salary: £24,790 opportunity to progress to £27,269 Hours: 37 Location: Stevenage with hybrid working Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Resources About the team Our Finance department is formed with over 100 employees, and we are looking for an Assistant Accountancy Officer to join us. You'll be working within the Commercial and Resources team, specifically The Resources Finance business partner team which provides support to all services within the Resources directorate. We are responsible for supporting monitoring on an annual £100m revenue spend budgets within Finance, Legal, HR, Property, Improvement and Technology, Assurance, Insurance and the newly formed Business Support service. The are a number of principal accountants, senior accountants and accountancy officers within the team. The ambition for our team is to automate everyday tasks using relevant technologies and form a slick value-add business partner service. About the role To support the wider team in delivery of effective and timely Finance Business Partner services To facilitate the production of financial management information to meet the needs of service boards and managers and to make use of a wide range of information systems in order to work as close to budget managers as possible The post will be supporting managing queries in the Shared Queries inboxes Managing and processing payments Supporting on Reconciliations and Financial monitoring Supporting relevant stakeholders in raising of Purchase orders where required. All administration tasks linked to the role About you Essential Experience in using IT systems including Excel Good communication skills, both verbally and written Ability to work effectively as part of the team and with third party providers Open minded and 'can-do' attitude Desirable Experience of working in a financial team or similar Evidence of strong ICT skills including Excel (Training can be provided) Ability to work effectively with ledgers and other systems, to produce robust reports and effective working papers Ability to adhere to technical policies, procedures, guidance, and legislation Ability to make recommendations to improve existing practices Knowledge of SAP (Training can be provided) Interested in starting or has already started AAT (study support may be available) This is an entry level post with significant opportunity for growth for the right person.
