Worcester City Council are recruiting for a Private Sector Housing Team Manager (Maternity Cover). We are looking for an assured individual ready to take on a challenge by leading the Private Sector Housing team at Worcester City Council during an exciting period of time. You will be leading our established Private Sector Housing Team to deliver a range of functions including: Delivering our Private Sector Housing Strategy objectives for the year Driving improvements to the housing stock in Worcester through proactive initiatives and responding to reports of disrepair Implement Worcester's Additional Licensing HMO Scheme in September Prepare for and implement any new legislation which is released. Providing a key role in contract managing the Councils Home Improvement Agency and the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants. The role is varied, fast paced and provides significant opportunities to improve the lives of residents in Worcester as well as for your own personal development. You will provide line management as well as Private Sector Housing expertise and knowledge to the Team to deliver across all aspects of the Private Sector Housing Function. We are looking for a technically knowledgeable candidate with a sound understanding and experience in enforcement and complex casework. You will need to be dynamic and organised with great customer service and leadership skills. This post is for maternity cover on a fixed term contract and provides a great opportunity to work with an established Team to make a mark. About you The successful candidate will: Be a registered Environmental Health Practitioner or equivalent or have worked at a Senior Technical Officer level and have considerable experience of Private Sector Housing. Knowledge and understanding of legislation affecting this area of work e.g. Housing Act 2004 Experience of maintaining a strong customer focussed environment Experience of working with multi-agency partnerships Experience of presenting information to a wide range of audiences Excellent communication skills with an ability to deal with people in difficult situations and to handle confrontation tactfully Highly developed I.T. skills and experience of implementation of new I.T. systems. Outstanding customer care and a commitment to supporting performance improvement. Able to direct a team and can demonstrate previous experience in managing and motivating staff You will also need to be able to travel so flexibility, a full driving licence and use of a car is essential.
