We have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional, experienced finance professional to join the team as Principal Accountant, supporting the council in delivering high-quality public services for the residents of Wiltshire.
As a Principal Accountant you will have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy for how your workload area is approached, including the management and development of a small team of Accountants. You will work closely with the service Directors and Heads of Service within the Resources directorate to ensure the organisation’s financial forecasts of revenue income, expenditure and capital projects are accurate and evidenced. Leading on closure of accounts and budget setting for the directorate, you will provide financial modelling to support projects and bids ensuring that services deliver maximum value to the organisation.
Our ideal candidate will hold a CCAB professional Accountancy qualification, preferably with a CIPFA Qualified Accountant registration, alongside extensive relevant experience. You will ideally have experience of working in a similar capacity within a Local Authority Finance environment.
We are looking for a financial professional with strong communication abilities, budgeting expertise, and the confidence to drive business requirements leading on technological improvements such as leveraging Power BI dashboards where investment or change is required within services. The ideal candidate will excel in managing work under pressure, possess excellent ICT skills, and have a proven track record in leading small teams.
