We’re currently looking for an experienced full-time candidate to join the Social Care and Education service, playing a key role in providing ICT applications support to staff across multiple sites throughout Leicester City area as well as some home-based workers. This role is critical in supporting front line workers in Social Care and Education services, with system support, guidance, including creation and maintenance of appropriate support documentation. We have several significant projects in the pipeline making this a very exciting time and opportunity to join the service.
You’ll be expected to work in an agile manner and may be required to travel across the city to attend meetings with external partners, and colleagues from various services and departments. Our key office location is Halford House and after the induction period, you may be working from home. On occasion you’ll be required to travel within Leicester City via own vehicle or public transport.
The core working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5.00pm and 8.30am-4.30pm on a Friday. This position is on a fixed term full-time basis for 12 months, working 37 hours over Monday to Friday.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be covering the support desk on a rota basis; this will involve resolving queries on Liquidlogic and Capita ONE application systems related matters. In addition, you’ll be supporting the management and maintenance of the Council’s varied ICT systems, testing enhancements, new functionalities, and contributing to ongoing projects work. Another important job to undertake is the production of system documentation and materials which will be used by the business, partners, suppliers, and other IT teams. Throughout all the above, you’ll be expected to provide excellent support and customer service to anyone, whether that be internal or external, drawing on our service. You’ll be working within a small, dedicated team; however, you’ll work alongside other internal IT teams to resolve a variety of issues in a timely and accurate manner. You won’t be expected to chair any meetings but will be expected to prepare and present information at meetings with internal teams, suppliers, and other external partners.
What you’ll need
You’ll have knowledge and experience of providing IT support. Alongside this you’ll also have experience of working in a systems administration role supporting complex systems in a large organisation. Some examples of this will be, include, but not be limited to:
1. End User administration.
2. Client applications and solution implementation and support.
3. Devise and solution configuration, testing deployment, upgrades, patches and installation.
4. Maintaining the system security, integrity and quality of data which may be highly confidential.
5. Logical approach to problem/fault resolution.
6. Liaison with technical support teams and suppliers.
In addition, you'll have experience in monitoring the performance of applications, systems, and interfaces to ensure that they are operating efficiently and effectively, and in resolving and proactively preventing the occurrence of problems, incidents or errors.
As a logical thinker you’ll hold the ability to problem solve with proven experience of devising innovative solutions. You’ll show a positive attitude to flexible working and be able to show resilience working in a fast-changing operational support environment to deliver continual service improvements. Your excellent customer service skills will allow you to easily converse with all areas of the business and translate their requirements into the technical solutions.
In addition, you’ll have a good understanding of GDPR and sound appreciation of the need for effective information and systems security. You’ll have previous experience of working on ICT projects with full project life cycle exposure and have the ability to demonstrate excellent IT skills in case management systems, including Microsoft Office.
