This is an interesting position involving various clerical duties within our administrative team. Main duties of the job
1. Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
2. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
3. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately
4. Signpost patients to the correct service
5. Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members and external agencies
6. Code data on the clinical IT system
7. Photocopy documentation as required
8. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
9. Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
10. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us
We are a busy rural practice with just over 5000 patients. We have 3 GP partners, 5 practice nurses/HCA's, and a current team of 7 receptionists/administrators plus shared staff within the PCN. We are a close-knit, friendly team who work in a busy but rewarding environment.
Job responsibilities
REPORTING TO: The Practice Manager
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 3 months
HOURS: Hours to be mutually agreed across on a rota basis within the hours of 7.30 am & 7 pm Monday - Friday
JOB SUMMARY: To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, and liaise with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in working with the general public and dealing with people from all backgrounds. A professional telephone manner and a positive attitude are essential.
* Working within an office environment.
* Experience within a GP surgery or healthcare.
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
