Job Summary
The Plant Hire Operations Supervisor will oversee our plant hire operations, with a strong focus on customer management and mechanical workshop supervision. The role requires a proven track record in plant hire, exceptional customer service skills, and a background in managing mechanical workshops.
Duties
1. Responding to customer enquiries about plant, machinery, and tool hire.
2. Inventory control and planning.
3. Booking services and MOT’s to the appropriate person.
4. Developing professional relationships with internal and external clients.
5. Setting up customer hire contracts.
6. Negotiating costs with suppliers.
7. General administration.
8. Pricing parts to maintain profitability.
9. Receiving parts, including placing them into inventory and properly labelling them.
10. Helping customers find and purchase the correct parts.
11. Overseeing special orders.
12. Collaborating with Senior Mechanic to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs.
13. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop and plant hire operations.
14. Supervise the mechanical workshop, overseeing the scheduling of repairs, maintenance, and servicing of plant machinery.
15. Any other duties as required.
Requirements
1. Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
2. Good attention to detail.
3. Sales and customer service skills if working with clients.
4. Mathematical skills to help manage the inventory, pricing, and estimates.
5. Problem-solving skills to deal with parts inventory issues.
6. Product knowledge to ensure identification of parts correctly and recommend the needed parts.
7. Proven experience in plant hire management and mechanical workshop supervision.
8. Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, repair processes, and maintenance schedules.
9. Ability to manage and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
10. Proficiency in using relevant software for inventory and job tracking.
11. Valid driver's license.
12. The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or as part of a busy team.
13. Strong communication skills.
Qualifications
1. Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field.
2. Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or plant hire industry.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £23,607.84-£32,000.00 per year
