Job Purpose
Reporting into the Senior Improvement Manager, this role will be responsible for leading our operational diagnostics capabilities. This individual will develop processes and analytics to monitor our operational health, benchmark our performance vs competitors and identify the root cause of operational issues. With operational knowledge, this individual will identify trends and develop insights to support business decision making. Using advanced visualisation and clear storytelling techniques, this individual will support the Senior Improvement Manager in the necessary stakeholder engagement and change management to drive operational improvement at a base and functional level.
With support from the Data Science & Analytics Centre of Excellence, this role will also be responsible for developing and upholding best data and analytics practice as we seek to transform the planning and analytics capability in the department.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Develop, enhance, and maintain diagnostic models to assess key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OTP and completion rates.
2. Analyse trends to route level cause and propose solutions to operational challenges.
3. Generate hypotheses, test them rigorously, and take ownership of solving identified problems.
4. Create compelling visualisations and reports using platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Thinkcell to support senior leadership in decision-making processes.
5. Lead two Senior Analysts within the Diagnostics & Improvements team, embedding best practices in data analytics.
6. Collaborate across departments to foster a data-driven culture, ensuring decision-making is grounded in robust analytics.
7. Build dashboards that consolidate strategic and tactical KPI performance, creating “one version of the truth.”
8. Provide timely insights and prepare insights material reports for senior leadership, including Operations Leadership Team and Airline Management Board meetings.
9. Share knowledge and collaborate with IT and other analytics teams to optimise operational tools and practices.
10. Support ad-hoc analyses, particularly around disruption events and opportunities to reduce them.
What You’ll Need
1. Proven analytical and quantitative skills with a strong track record of using data to drive business decisions.
2. At least 3 years of experience in data analytics in a commercial setting, with a focus on delivering successful projects.
3. Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, R).
4. Expertise in business intelligence tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or similar.
5. Solid understanding of statistical techniques, including time series analysis, multivariate analysis, and forecasting.
6. Strong Excel skills for data analysis and visualisation.
7. Ability to operate effectively under pressure, with a delivery-oriented mindset.
8. Excellent communication and storytelling skills, capable of presenting complex data insights to stakeholders.
9. Experience in cross-functional teams and dynamic, fast-paced environments.
10. Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent commercial experience.

Location & Hours of Work
This role is full time and hybrid where we spend 60% of our time together as a team at our head office at Luton Airport.
