Position: Assistant Estimator or Estimator – Civil Engineering / Highways / Rail – Includes some Hybrid / Remote working

Role: As an Estimator, you will report to the Managing Estimator and be supported by the Senior Estimator and Pre-construction Manager. You will be responsible for the commercial elements of tenders, which will include both “Design and Build” and “Traditional” contracts. The projects vary in value from £2m to £30m across various sectors including highway authorities, industrial developments, rail, and environmental.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Responsible for the tender from receipt through to submission and post tender queries.
2. Consult with internal and external tender teams.
3. Mark up enquiries to be sent out to the supply chain, produce or organize Bills of Quantities production, and obtain material quotes.
4. Evaluate returned quotations from the supply chain and consult with supply chain members to align quotations with project specifications.
5. Prepare and evaluate risks and opportunities.
6. Arrange and prepare commercial documents for Tender Handover meetings.
7. Review supply chain performance quarterly.
8. Attend pre-qualification, mid-tender, and post-tender interviews.
9. Visit sites to obtain feedback.
Requirements: To be considered for this Estimator role, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Knowledge of Civils / Highways Sector.
2. Previous employment as an Assistant Estimator, Estimator, Senior Estimator, or similar.
3. Previous experience / knowledge in Civils, Highways, or Rail sector projects.
4. Previous Main Contractor employment.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).
Remuneration: The successful Estimator will receive a competitive basic salary (dependent on experience), car allowance, pension, and bonus.
