Are you passionate about helping young learners overcome behavioural challenges and thrive in the classroom? GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and proactive Behaviour Support Worker to work in schools across Ringwood. In this vital role, you will provide targeted support to students with behavioural needs, helping to create a calm, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all pupils feel valued and understood.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work one-to-one or in small groups with students who may be struggling with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Your role will involve building trusting relationships, implementing behaviour strategies, and encouraging positive choices and personal growth. You will be part of a wider support team, working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Responsibilities Of a Behaviour Support Worker
* Support students in managing their behaviour and developing positive coping strategies.
* Provide individual or group interventions to improve engagement and emotional regulation.
* Assist class teachers in maintaining a supportive classroom environment.
* Monitor student behaviour and progress, reporting regularly to staff.
* De-escalate challenging situations and promote positive conflict resolution.
* Encourage social inclusion, participation, and personal development.
* Support the delivery of tailored learning activities suited to individual needs.
Behaviour Support Worker Requirements
* Previous experience in a behaviour support or similar pastoral role is essential.
* Qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance are desirable.
* A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* A patient, non-judgmental, and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
* Resilience, flexibility, and a proactive attitude in challenging situations.

* Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
