The busy finance team have an opportunity for a financial accountant to join them on a permanent basis. They are looking for a commercially minded candidate to join the team, who can help with process improvement and driving accountability within the team.
Your new role
Within this varied role you will help the team deliver reliable and meaningful management information to stakeholders across the organisation, help ensure appropriate internal financial controls are in place and are operating effectively, and ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and on time, in line with relevant accounting standards and legislation. You will also ensure effective support and advice is provided to key stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for financial accounting, financial control, and statutory reporting of the organisation. The post-holder will manage the organisation's financial accounting and external financial reporting, prepare the annual statutory accounts, liaise with external auditors, ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintain internal policies.
The post-holder will oversee the effective running of the Finance Office, a team of six, responsible for operational finance activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and the sales ledger. The Senior Financial Accountant will also provide technical support and guidance to the Finance Office team and enhance the analytical support provided to the rest of the organisation. The organisation implemented a new finance system this financial year, and the post-holder will be a key stakeholder in developing financial reporting and analysis within the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA) with previous experience in a similar role. You will have good time management skills to ensure internal and external deadlines are met, a proven ability to work well under pressure, and manage a complex workload with competing priorities. You will have the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team but also independently, with minimal supervision, using your own initiative. Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organisation and external organisations, respond to complex queries in a clear and comprehensive manner, and explain financial issues to non-financial managers. You will have an enthusiastic, enabling, and proactive approach to work, be flexible and responsive to changing priorities, and have a strong customer focus with a high regard for quality service delivery.
