Young People Housing support Coordinator 21 hours per week We’re looking for a Housing Support Co-ordinator to join the team based at our Young people's accommodation in Swan Lane in Huddersfield. Fixed term to September 25 with the potential for this to extend. At Connect Housing we aim to do more than provide a place to live. As a Housing Support Co-ordinator, you’ll be making a positive difference to the lives of young people (16-25) who have experienced homelessness. No two days are the same and you will gain real job satisfaction from this work. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be assessing referrals, focusing on tenancy management, risk assessments and managing safeguarding concerns using a multi-agency approach. You’ll be using a strengths-based support plan with the young residents, assisting them to continue with studies or get back into education/employment and enabling them to gain independent living skills to then include discussions around suitable move on plans. Your time will be spent mainly working in the hostel accommodation, supporting the onsite independent living flats and some tenancies in the community. To do well in this role you will need to be pro-active, solution focused and have some trauma informed knowledge or experience. The ideal candidate will be someone who is: Pro-active, resilient and driven to providing a first-class service A confident decision maker who positively and assertively takes a solutions-focused approach to challenges A trustworthy and values driven person who acts ethically and with integrity A team player working collaboratively internally and externally whilst confident enough to work independently Whilst no formal qualifications are required, applicants must demonstrate experience of: Working with young people who have experienced homelessness Working within guidelines and policy Liaising and working with other agencies Identifying and managing situations involving a level of risk. The issues and the challenges faced by young people. This role will require an enhanced DBS check. In terms of work pattern Swan Lane is staffed 24/7, you will be part of a 4-week rolling rota and will be required to work shifts between the hours of 08:30-22:00. This includes some weekend work.
