Brief
This role offers the opportunity to work on submarines throughout all stages of the product life cycle, from early design to build support and commissioning.
The Naval Architecture Department includes teams specializing in weights engineering, stability and hydrostatics, infrastructure support, seamanship and outfit, manoeuvring and control, fluid dynamics, design, and development.
What the role of the Naval Architect entails:
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing the SSN AUKUS, the world's most advanced submarine
* Applying knowledge of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, seamanship & outfit, infrastructure, or whole boat design to support major UK shipbuilding programs
* Supporting sea trials, inclining experiments, and other commissioning activities for various submarine classes
* Engaging in R&D activities to develop world-leading capabilities
What experience you need to be a successful Naval Architect:
* Qualified naval architect with a degree in Ship Science, Marine Technology, or similar
* Chartered Engineer status with RINA - Principal grade
* Eligibility for UK SC Clearance - UK Eyes Only
* Experience in stability or manoeuvring assessments, design, or build support
* Strong technical report writing and presentation skills
