Role: Senior Bid Manager
Location: Chorley
Reporting to: Head of Bids
Purpose:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, and experienced bid manager/writer to join our business winning team. They will need to be comfortable delivering every aspect of the end-to-end bid process. This role will suit an experienced bid manager, who is looking for the next step up in their career.
The main purpose of the role is to lead bid management activity through a ‘hands-on’, end-to-end approach which will include writing. The business typically pursues opportunities in the range of £1m to £100m covering logistics, data management, inventory management, procurement, and supply chain management across sectors including automotive, beverage, defence, health, rail, and utilities.
The senior bid manager will be responsible for high-quality bid submissions that are fully compliant with the customer’s requirements, and compellingly communicate why they should choose us. They will also have the exciting opportunity to work across our wider group of companies to introduce the bid management function, establish the processes, and get them ‘bid-ready’.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Identify and track potential opportunities, and communicate to wider team
2. Work with business development team to ensure proposals are aligned with the win strategy for the opportunity
3. Manage all stages of the bidding process, responding to Request for Information (RFI), Expression of Interest (EOI), Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ), and Invitations to Tender (ITT)
4. Apply our bid management process and tools to manage opportunities. Manage the process through all stages to completion, providing structure and adhering to deadlines
5. Identify and implement continuous improvement projects, to develop our process
6. Build relationships with subject matter experts, so their contributions are delivered on time and in line with what’s needed. Write responses using the information they provide
7. Work independently with minimal supervision
8. Maintain the bid content library, updating with new material as it is written
9. Ensure reviews are completed on time
10. Liaise with the commercial team throughout the bid process, so pricing is completed on time and in line with the requirements
11. Use bid management skills to create high quality and compelling submissions
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
1. Previous experience of successfully managing the bid process and delivering large scale, multi-million-pound bids and tenders
2. Excellent writing skills to convert subject matter experts’ input to a clear, compelling proposition
3. Project management skills: APM/APMP certification, or appropriate experience
4. Strong relationship/influencing skills, and the ability to motivate teams essential
5. Strong communicator, influencer, and innovator. Must be able to liaise at all levels
6. Excellent writing, IT, and analytical skills
7. Attention to detail is essential
8. Strategic and innovative thinking
9. Educated to degree level or equivalent with previous experience in a Bid Manager role
10. APMP accreditation preferred
