We are the leading provider of infrastructure services.
At Altrad, we transform our nation’s critical infrastructure to operate safely and sustainably.
With over 11,000 talented people, we provide the full spectrum of critical engineering and construction services for industries both onshore and offshore.
Construction Manager required for a well-established pharmaceutical site. The applicant should have strong experience in managing a site where various sizes of multi-projects are ongoing at any one time throughout various plants/areas on site.
Right first time on delivery of projects and customer satisfaction are key to this role, as well as no surprise reporting on critical dates or progress. This role relies on inter-team discipline as well as good inter-team cooperation from an already well-established site team and contractors group.
The applicant will be required to manage an EPCM contract alongside managing works for the client using incumbent contractors who are well established on the site.
Good communication skills are essential in the day-to-day running of the site between the CM and the project team, the contracting group on site, as well as the client reps and senior site management. The CM will have a construction/safety team on site working for them who covers various roles and responsibilities directed by the CM.
The CM will be responsible for holding daily construction & safety meetings as well as attending kick-off meetings and various project coordination meetings daily and weekly.
The CM will work closely with the contractor’s managers/supervisors and construction team daily on site visits, carrying out audits and informal workplace chats with the work parties at the job fronts, viewing job starts and any new first-time construction activities to assess the suitability and whether it works. They will also review RAMS to ensure they are meaningful and that task instructions are being carried out.
They will be involved in the planning and delivery/scheduling of works on site and control of a three-week look ahead, which they will share with the contracts and the site including the client. This is broken down into daily tasks, areas of works, and requirements, advising the various areas/plants on site of the forthcoming works as the plant works 24/7.
The CM is in overall control of safety on site, as well as a quality install of all equipment and infrastructure. Daily wall rounds are required to audit both safety and quality, where feedback is given on both positive and negative findings to the Contracting Group.
The CM will also review all safety information, RAMS, training records, certifications, as well as safety performance and adherence to safety compliance. They will also be reviewing quality documents required by the contracting group on site using the assistance of the CM’s construction/safety team.
The CM will have a strong input from the concept of the projects from the start on the build and construction of the project by attending various meetings and walk-arounds, so a solid background in engineering and construction is essential with a good understanding of all aspects of construction including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and C&I. This is to be able to challenge ways of working and adapt for new technology, reviewing all construction methodology to ensure it is safe and workable.
Final evaluation or project walk rounds will be carried out by the CM and his team before the project is handed over to the client to validate that the new system is compliant for the site.
They will be asked to deliver a first-class site performance on all of the above, as well as assisting the site in organizing and running various safety performance-related activities throughout the year with the contractors on site and assisting in the contracting group raising charitable donations to local charities each year.
