As Deputy Head of the Transformation and Sustainability team, the post holder will hold a pivotal role which will comprise of the following key responsibilities:
1. Management of the Transformation and Sustainability team and their broad programme of work.
2. Plan, provide support, facilitate and monitor the directorate’s programme of work.
3. Design, develop and maintain robust systems and processes relating to the performance of the Transformation and Sustainability, which align to the Trust’s culture of continuous quality improvement (QI).
4. Provide a lead role on complex Transformation and Sustainability projects and work streams.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an expert in fields relating to transformation, change, project management and sustainability. They will be experienced in mobilising, managing, overseeing the delivery, monitoring and learning across complex transformation and sustainability projects in the health sector. Working closely with colleagues across the Trust, ICS and other stakeholders, the focus of the role will be driving forward cost, quality, social and environmental improvement projects which support delivery of the Trust and EFP divisional strategic objectives.
The post holder will support the Head of Transformation and Sustainability in the delivery of both the Trust and ICS wide Green Plans (and associated mandated targets) and the Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) targets for the Estates, Facilities and PFI (EFP) division.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Responsibility for the day-to-day line management, effective leadership, training, education and development of the Transformation and Sustainability team.
2. Take lead responsibility for the management of all Transformation and Sustainability service budgets.
3. Develop a kind and respectful culture and address disrespectful behaviour, through the Trust’s Being Kind resource.
4. Demonstrate compassionate leadership at all times, developing the Transformation and Sustainability team through collective leadership.
5. Make operational and strategic decisions affecting the delivery of the Transformation and Sustainability service.
6. Develop, review and write policies specific to the Transformation and Sustainability service.
7. Manage the performance of the Transformation and Sustainability service, ensuring the highest standards are met.
8. Ensure that all aspects of service delivery are achieved specifically Trust and ICS wide Green Plans and the Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) targets.
9. Advocate for the Transformation and Sustainability service and influence the EFP Divisional Management Team.
10. Utilise specialist knowledge relating to transformation, change, project management and sustainability.
11. Ensure effective communication within the Transformation and Sustainability team and with other Divisions across the Trust.
12. Identify and promote efficiency opportunities across EFP services.
13. Regularly communicate financial cost improvement information with relevant stakeholders.
14. Adapt/design and maintain robust information systems relating to the performance of the Transformation and Sustainability.
15. Align to and embed the Trust’s culture of continuous quality improvement into all activities.
16. Analyse complex data to resolve issues and forecast trends.
17. Plan and organise complex programmes.
18. Make decisions regarding policies, plans, programmes and procedures.
19. Benchmark EFP service performance using the ‘Model Health’ system.
20. Lead on the interpretation and implementation of national strategies and guidance.
21. Carry out research and development activities to support EFP service change and transformation.
Person specification
Essential Qualifications
* Educated to degree level.
* Evidence of higher level study at Masters or Post Graduate diploma Level; alternatively specialist project management knowledge or experience at an equivalent level.
* Intermediate to advanced IT skills including in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Knowledge, Skills, Training experience
* Highly developed specialist knowledge across a broad range of areas relating to transformation, change, project management and sustainability.
* Previous experience of mobilising and running complex projects in the health sector.
* Expert knowledge of healthcare sustainability management principles and legislation.
* Highly skilled in persuading, negotiating and motivating others.
* Excellent proactive communication skills.
* Experience in interpreting and implementing national strategies and guidance.
* Experience of delivering training programmes & presentations.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to effectively manage others and negotiate difficult relationships.
* Experienced in identifying project opportunities and monitoring performance.
* Working knowledge of ‘Model Health’.
* Working knowledge of continuous quality improvement (QI) methodology.
