Project Planner – Main Civils

The Civil Works Alliance is seeking a skilled Project Planner to join our Main Civils delivery planning team. This role will support the Planning Lead in managing procurement, engineering, and manufacturing activities, coordinating both conventional supply chains and specialist material suppliers and Tier 2 subcontractors. Due to the nature of the work, some materials and services have significant lead-in times, requiring effective planning and scheduling to ensure timely project delivery.
The primary role includes developing and updating the MCW Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacture schedules in coordination with the CWA team, Procurement, Engineering, and the T2 supply chain, ensuring these are integrated with the overall delivery schedule. The Planner will be responsible for capturing and updating progress on Procurement, T2 Engineering, and Manufacture schedules, identifying any critical schedule slippage, and addressing potential delays.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and update the contract/project procurement and engineering & manufacture programmes in accordance with the Project Requirements.
* Review/comment/acceptance of supply chain schedules.
* Analyse performance and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
* Represent the project/business with stakeholders.
* Report on progress and issues with advice on mitigation.
* Coordinate with internal customers – supply chain, engineering, design, commercial, construction.
* Responsible for the delivery of the planning and coordination processes.
* Liaise with site team and supply chain to check on progress, issues and review planned progress.
* Highlight issues for trending and resolution.
* Manage records and reporting.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Proficient in Primavera P6 planning software.
* Strong IT skills.
* Advanced project/programme controls.
* 3 years plus experience in the production of construction programmes in a civil engineering environment.
* Degree or other industry recognised qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar related sector.
* Able to ascertain which tasks are urgent or important and the level of accuracy required.
* Lateral thinker to spot trends/issues in production data.
* Good communication skills - verbal and written.
