We are looking for a kind, caring and enthusiastic person who is passionate to gain more knowledge and develop new skills with a positive attitude to join our Day Case Team, Marlowe Ward.
This post is 30 hours / week Monday to Friday with a flexible working pattern as per rota.
Reporting to: Band 7 Day case and Haemodialysis Manager.
Staff Group: Band 6 In-Charge sister and band 5 registered nurses plus band 3 and band 2 HCAs.
Marlowe Renal Ward comprises of 27 acute inpatient beds and 6 Day-case beds plus 4 acute haemodialysis stations/beds.
We admit patients for renal vascular access procedures (dialysis line insertion) or operations and/or related complications, kidney biopsies, intravenous drug administration including immunosuppressants, CT scan pre-hydration, IV Iron infusion, ascitic drains, nebulizers, diagnostic procedures, and for an urgent renal review.
Day-Case, Acute Haemodialysis, and Ward team work together to deliver high standard quality care to all our patients coming to our care.
Main duties of the job
1. Assist the manager to book patients for day case procedures and treatments via different referral systems.
2. Follow the emails, All Script, and Renal Plus system and book patients in the day case diary with the day case manager's and sister's support.
3. Prepare, contact, and send appointment letters to the patients.
4. Liaise with GP or other departments and deliver or receive essential information on time connected to the patient's procedure/treatment plans.
5. Follow the day case diary and ensure patient's medical notes are available in advance for the surgical procedures.
6. Maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere and develop professional relationships with patients, friends, and family.
7. Establish good working relationships with colleagues within and outside our services.
8. Understand the roles and responsibilities and be familiar with the team and environment to assist the team in delivering high-quality comprehensive care at all times.
9. Answer telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner, record and relay messages as appropriate.
10. Assist the day case team in admitting the patients onto the computer system and complete the process on time.
11. Adhere to operational/Trust policies and procedures in relation to Health and Safety and Fire.
12. Undertake any other duties as appropriate to Band 2 criteria in order to fulfil the requirements of the service.
