Role Overview
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with our teaching staff to deliver engaging and personalised learning experiences for our students. Your support will be essential in promoting a positive and enriching educational atmosphere that encourages both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support:
1. Provide individualised support to students, addressing their unique physical, emotional, educational, and social needs.
2. Encourage and facilitate independent learning through structured activities and tailored programs.
3. Build strong, trusting relationships with students, fostering self-esteem, resilience, and confidence.
4. Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for all learners.
Classroom Assistance:
5. Assist teachers in planning and executing customised lesson plans that meet diverse learning requirements.
6. Help maintain an organised, safe, and stimulating classroom setting conducive to learning.
7. ️ Support smooth transitions between various educational activities throughout the school day.
8. Monitor, assess, and report on student progress and achievements regularly.
Additional Duties:
9. Participate actively in staff meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities.
10. Ensure the well-being and supervision of students during non-class times, including before/after school and during lunch breaks.
11. Assist in organizing and overseeing school trips and extracurricular activities.
12. ️ Uphold and adhere to the school's safeguarding policies, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
13. Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2) or substantial experience working with children.
14. Comprehensive understanding of current safeguarding and child protection practices.
Desired Attributes:
15. ️ Genuine passion for working with children and supporting their educational journey.
16. Experience in assisting students with various special educational needs, including SEMH and ASD.
17. Proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to learning and development.
18. Excellent communication and collaborative skills, working effectively within a team.
19. ️ Proficiency in ICT and holding a valid First Aid qualification are advantageous.
