ROLE – Early Careers Co-Ordinator DEPARTMENT –Business support LOCATION –Aldermaston CLEARANCE – BPSS/SC Working with NSG NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Role To support the commercial and operational activity of NSG Environmental Limited, as directed by the PD Manager, by: Providing academic and pastoral support to NSG staff members in Early Careers roles (trainees, apprentices, graduates) as directed by their line managers/PD Manager. Providing effective identification and provision of training and development needs for staff in the Early Careers stage of development in partnership with line managers / Heads of Departments, training providers and other relevant bodies/organisations. Supporting the identification and provision of appropriate attachments/activities to support learning pathways, alongside line managers as appropriate for the individual. Liaison with both internal and external agencies for the provision of appropriate training and development activities to support the ongoing development of Early Careers personnel as agreed with line managers/learning providers. Providing a single point of contact for all Early Careers personnel and their Training Providers. To use initiative, qualification and prior experience to: Identify appropriate learning development activities and provision to support Early Careers personnel on their development journey. Identify appropriate training provision (internal and external) to support Early Careers staff and their development to meet business need as directed by PD Man/HoP&I. To utilise and manage the learning management system (LMS) in support of staff development / competency with support from other PD Staff as appropriate. Support and implement administrative functions within the PD Team as necessary. Identify and implement initiatives to improve the support provided to those staff in Early Careers roles in the co-ordination and delivery of staff and personnel development / qualification in liaison with internal and external training providers. 2. Key Objectives 2.1 Co-ordination and Support Act as first point of contact both internally and externally for early careers roles such as Apprentices, Trainees and Graduates. Ensure that appropriate tracking and management systems are regularly updated and that data held for learners remains current. Enrol learners onto their programmes and ensure that programmed activities support qualification requirements. Identify and co-ordinate additional supporting activities that early learners may need to complete e.g. CSCS Cards, and relevant supporting equipment qualification. Act as the point of contact for scheduling and monitoring across apprenticeship programmes etc. through building positive and productive relationships with all stakeholders (internal and external). Be conversant with all aspects of each early careers route and the requirements for successful completion. Using coaching methods to signpost early careers learners to the appropriate support available to them. Monitor learner records to ensure that appropriate progress is being maintained and identify and support/action appropriate intervention pathways as required. Co-ordination of those individuals on Early Careers who have not yet been allocated formal Line Managers. This includes the provision of pastoral care, timesheets and other tasks as determined by the PD Manager in support of these employees. Maintenance of the Digital Apprenticeship Service in partnership with the NSG accounting function to ensure staff are appropriately recorded and registered to allow for correct allocation of funding. 2.2 Liaison Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to provide maximum possible support for the trainees/apprentices and graduates to facilitate their successful completion of their respective academic and vocational learning/training elements. Conduct detailed timely reviews with learners and training providers monitoring all aspects of the training plan as agreed on the Individual Learning Plans, including off the job training and progress towards qualifications. Regular review, development and maintenance of individual progress records alongside the respective Training Provider(s) in support of Line Managers/Heads of Department. 2.3 General Activities Assist NSG staff by providing appropriate facilitation, support and guidance to NSG personnel working with those on Early Careers courses / programs e.g. Line Managers/assessors/mentors etc. as requested. To participate in internal and external events and promotional activities as and when required. Understand personal responsibility to adhere to all relevant NSG policies and procedures. Undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and professional development as agreed through the NSG Appraisal Scheme process. Carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations. Person Specification Qualifications Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience – relevant- Essential English and Mathematics at GCSE 4/5 or equivalent Functional Skills at L2 - Essential Membership of appropriate technical / professional body (CIPD L3 or equivalent)- Desirable IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent- Desirable Experience & Knowledge Knowledge of apprenticeship programme structure and analysis of NVQ requirements to identify appropriate training pathways.- Essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of internal and external partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts- Essential Must be able to achieve SC security clearance (minimum)- Essential Experience of mentoring or coaching methods- Desirable
