Do you have what it takes to become an exceptional leader and part of a Local Authority, wanting to make a real difference to the lives and outcomes of the children and young people that we care for?
Rochdale Borough Council is going through a programme of transformation, and so there couldn’t be a better or more exciting time to join our team and be a part of our journey.
As a part of this transformation, we are expanding our Services and opening 2 new Children’s Homes for our children and young people aged from 8-17, with social and emotional needs and difficulties, and 2 new homes for children and young people with disabilities.
For this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and proactive individual to take on the role as a Dual Registered Manager to manage two of our new Children’s Homes for children and young people with social and emotional needs and difficulties. As a part of this role, you will have to register with Ofsted, and we will support you through this process.
As this is a Dual Registration, you will need really good time management skills to enable you to share your time effectively across both of your homes. You will be supported by an Assistant Manager in each of your homes.
This is a great opportunity for the successful person to develop, manage, and support a new, dedicated, and experienced team of workers, and be a part of the opening of 2 of our new homes, and leading on their registration with Ofsted.
You will lead on the care and support for 6 children and young people over the 2 homes, with 3 children and young people in each home.
The children and young people in all our homes need care, love, nurture, and support, to help them to work through the difficulties they may have experienced or are currently experiencing, and to help enhance their present and future lives.
The children and young people need a committed and dependable manager who will go above and beyond to make them feel safe and secure, and who will promote their emotional health and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone who will be a positive and supportive role model for our children and young people and equally, the team of workers they will be responsible for, which includes 1 Assistant Manager and 8.5 Residential Child Care Workers in each home. In support of your teams, you will lead on providing regular and effective supervision, including an annual ‘Delve’ Appraisal.
You will be part of a really encouraging and supportive management team, where there are real opportunities for your personal and professional development. Our training offer in Rochdale is second to none, including you completing the Therapeutic Parenting with PACE training programme, which is the foundation of our ‘Model of Care’ and practice across all our homes for both the care and support of the children and young people and the workers too.
In the role of a Dual Registered Manager, you will lead on the monitoring and reviewing of the systems and processes in the 2 homes, to ensure compliance with Ofsted and be confident that the homes are operating within the framework of the Children Act, Working Together to Safeguard 2023 and the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015. We want our homes to be rated at least “Good”, with a real ambition for all our homes to be “Outstanding”.
As the Dual Registered Manager, you must be over 21 years of age, you will have integrity and be of good character, with the appropriate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications to manage the two homes effectively and lead on the care and support of our children and young people.
You must, within the last 5 years, have worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children and young people and for at least one year, worked in a role requiring the management and supervision of workers in a care role.
You must be qualified to NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Working with Children and Young People or equivalent and preferably hold a Level 5 in Leadership & Management, but don’t worry if you don’t hold a Level 5, as we will support you to complete this as part of your professional development.
Part of the recruitment process will involve an Interview/Activity with Cared 4 children & young people.
Salary: £48,710 to £52,805 per annum plus £3,000 per annum market factor supplement.
Casual User Car Allowance is payable.
