Job overview
The Primary Care Dental Contracting and Commissioning team is looking for a dynamic and innovative individual to head up the primary, community and secondary dental contracting and commissioning team.
The role will be leading the transformation programme for NHS Dental services across the ICB to support delivery of the strategic objectives.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be required, but not limited to:
* Provide subject matter expertise and technical skills on the delivery and performance of dental and orthodontic services; interpreting national policy for local implementation.
* Drive transformation in the planning, commissioning and service delivery of dental services.
* Lead pathway redesign across primary, community, secondary and tertiary dental services.
* Be an integral part of the development of the strategic vision for dentistry in the ICB.
* Work in a matrix way with the ICB acute contracting team and other ICBs in the region to identify commissioning priorities and intentions.

Person specification
Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at senior level in a specialist area.
* Extensive knowledge of the specialist area and understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy.
* Good understanding of NHSE general dental and orthodontic service contracts.
Communication and Analytical
* Good negotiation skills with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues.
* Ability to analyse complex facts and situations and develop a range of options.
* Strategic thinker - ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise.
* Ability to use informed persuasion to influence others.
* Ability to carry out procurements for high-value contracts that require analysis, comparison, and assessment.
Planning and Management skills
* Evidence of planning and delivering programmes and projects on time.
