Systems Integration Engineer/Scientist 2 Based in the UK, Cambridge, Onsite. As an Systems Integration Engineer 2 at Illumina you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and help create and test genomic analysis tools used in the leading edge of research. You will participate in the development of high quality, robust products through the integration of hardware, software and chemistry components. You will also design and execute test plans and optimise a systems performance. A major part of the role will be to work with multiple research teams to ensure that our products are fully tested and diagnose any issues through troubleshooting experiments and root cause analysis. Tracking and logging of issues encountered during the development process. Work effectively within a cross-functional project team (development, manufacturing, marketing, service, etc.) Write new procedures for instrument testing and quality control. Support manufacturing through troubleshooting. Preferred background, skills and experience: Some experience working on prototypes, basic understanding of electronics systems and strong system troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience with fluidic and/or mechatronic and vision control systems is a plus. Knowledge and exposure to clinical development and/or life science manufacturing (ISO 13485, ISO9001, GXP) or knowledge of NGS Sample Preparation Methods and NGS Sequencing is a plus but not required. Competent in Linux usage and troubleshooting. Those with basic coding/scripting skills (VB, Python, Matlab etc.) are preferred. Must be meticulous and detail oriented. A strong desire to be part of a cross functionally collaborative science and engineering team who share a goal to improve human health. Effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills. Comfortable asking questions, raising concerns, and engaging in technical dialog in new and uncharted fields. D egree in Engineering, a Physical Science, Computer Science, or equivalent is required. Good presentation skills, you will be required to present your findings to stakeholders.
