Your Role:
This role reports to the CEO and is responsible for the design and integration of our electric vehicle conversions and our EV conversion kits. You will take overall responsibility for the engineering function at Electrogenic, ensuring that our bolt-in powertrains remain the best-in-class and that their integration within the vehicles is of the highest standard. You will work with our electrical and software engineers, while leading a small team of design engineers. You will set standards, ensure our design is applied throughout all our products, ensuring design for production and value engineering. You will ensure that the finished product drives beautifully and is aesthetically pleasing.

Key Responsibilities:
Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, while ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and legal vehicle conversion regulations
Select mechanical components with consideration for standardisation, obsolescence, availability, and cost.
Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, while ensuring design files and information are up-to-date and stored appropriately within the PDM/PLM.
Liaise with other departments, including sales and marketing, mechanical build, electrical, and production to ensure products are designed for manufacture & assembly and customer requests are handled efficiently.
Take the technical lead on all projects, coach and support junior engineers in design techniques, define departmental processes, and identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements.
Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and available such as BoM's, installation guides, etc.
Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and consistently apply workplace management and rules.
Any other requests as necessary in a fair and reasonable manner.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
Automotive experience.
Advanced SolidWorks proficiency.
Proven track record in leading product development projects.
Extensive expertise in designing bespoke automotive projects.
Proficiency in GD&T
Proficiency in creating detailed 2D drawings for manufacture.
Practical experience in assembly and testing.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Experience in mentorship.
Experience working to tight deadlines in a customer-centric business.
Re-engineering a vehicle to drive better than it ever did requires are range of skills and familiarity with automotive systems, including suspension, braking, transmission, as well as other systems such as air conditioning. Ultimately, our watch-word is that we do not permanently alter the vehicles in any way - all our systems respect the original vison of the vehicle in question and do not require any drilling, cutting or welding of the host.
Desirable Experience:
Familiarity with business tools such as Asana, Jira, etc.
Familiarity of EV systems and battery design is desirable but not essential but the challenge is making the mechanical design team more efficient. Salary offered is negotiable depending on experience, Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.30pm or 8.30am - 5.00pm, plus onsite parking
