An exciting opportunity has arisen through our primary care improvement plan for a Primary Care Mental Health Nurse. This post will be based within GP practices throughout Forth Valley. Successful candidates will work directly with GPs, Practice Managers and the wider practice team to provide accessible primary care for people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The post holder will be a registered Mental Health Nurse with the drive and enthusiasm to provide holistic mental health assessments and evidence based interventions within a primary care setting. Non-medical prescribing would be advantageous for this role but should not deter candidates with the other requisite skills. Skilled in Mental Health Nursing with a passion for person centred care, the Primary Care Mental Health Nurse will play a vital role in the provision of day to day primary care. Primary Care Mental Health Nurses interface with secondary care and community based services, referring on when necessary. This rewarding role requires resilient professionals with enthusiasm and the drive to innovate and develop. Professional leadership and supervision will be provided through the Primary Care Mental Health Service Team Leads. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the GPs and practice managers, often being the first point of contact for those with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The Primary Care Mental Health nurse will provide specific high quality psychiatric nursing assessments and interventions in a primary care setting, with the ability to refer on to appropriate services if required. This is a rare opportunity to truly influence and improve the primary care experience for people seeking mental health support within the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnerships.
