The Royal Veterinary College is the UK’s largest and longest-established independent vet school. As a world leading specialist veterinary and biological science research institution, the RVC brings together talented individuals; all of whom share a passion for human and animal health and welfare. The Research Grants Manager is a new role within the Grants Management team at The Royal Veterinary College (RVC). Situated within the Research and Innovation Office (RIO), the Grants Management team supports academics and researchers in their applications for funding and the post-award management of research and innovation awards at RVC. The team covers both pre-award and post-award financial administration and assistance. This newly created role will assume leadership of a sub-team that supports pre-award and studentship activity, developing enhanced support for RVC researchers and academics and working closely with colleagues in other academic and professional services departments. The postholder will lead the day-to-day operations of pre-award activity (including pre-award for externally funded studentships), and will deputise for the Head of Research Grants Management at meetings and in the provision of support to the wider Grants Management team, as appropriate. The role will include management and oversight of the timely costing and pricing of grants and contracts in line with internal and funder policies; ensuring all applications and award acceptances are correctly reviewed and approved; ensuring appropriate third party due diligence is performed, and taking ownership of complex or strategic applications or awards. The postholder will also contribute to a programme of outreach and the provision of training and development for RVC academics and researchers. This role is critical to the further development of the pre-award service at RVC and presents an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to demonstrate their experience of providing holistic research support. The role is likely to suit individuals who enjoy working as part of a close-knit, supportive team and who are motivated to work in an environment where they can use and develop their skills for the benefit of a thriving research and innovation community.
