We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Production Engineer with an electrical mechanical bias to join a dynamic packaging & distribution team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of packaging line and site equipment. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in electrical engineering, coupled with mechanical and automation skills.
Our client is a leading European logistics & distribution company who have expanded into the UK and due to growing demand, they are looking to increase their site engineering team.
Key Responsibilities for this Production Engineering role:
1. Maintain all equipment and ensure it is in a safe, reliable condition.
2. Conduct and document periodic Preventive Maintenance (PPM) checks.
3. Perform mechanical, electrical, and setting tasks across the site.
4. Adhere to safe working practices and comply with company rules and regulations.
5. Perform regular maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on all engineering systems, machinery, and control panels to minimize downtime.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical or mechanical issues on the packing line, including PLCs, motors, drives, conveyors, and sensors.
7. Collaborate with the wider team to plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
8. Collaborate closely with senior management, to drive through improvements such as maintenance tasks, predictive maintenance and system upgrades.
9. Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
10. Work closely with production management to identify areas for continuous improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and service quality.
11. Apply engineering expertise to optimize production processes and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
12. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.
Essential Functional / Technical Skills
1. 3+ years of experience in a multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing or logistics environment, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems.
2. First hand experience with control systems and industrial automation.
3. Familiarity with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and process control.
4. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with an initiative-taking approach to identifying and addressing issues.
5. Effective communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
7. HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
