Job overview
This position provides leadership and supervision for phlebotomists stationed at hospitals and GP practices based in central London.
The successful candidate will ideally have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a minimum of five years experience as a phlebotomist or previous supervisory experience within phlebotomy.

Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of phlebotomy staff in outpatients, wards and the community.
2. Provide and control an efficient service, ensuring that appropriate staffing levels and professional standards are maintained at all times within the team.
3. Identify and resolve issues and errors within Phlebotomy, including initially dealing with routine disciplinary matters or any issues arising with other staff members, and supporting the Phlebotomy Manager as appropriate.
4. Monitor equipment and working area of the section, reporting any faults to the appropriate person.
5. Compile rotas.
6. Complete and monitor sickness absence and conduct return to work interviews, assisting the Phlebotomy manager with absence management.
7. Conduct appraisals, performance, personal objectives and development reviews.

Person specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including Grade C or higher in English.
* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare, Customer Care of Business Admin or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Previous NHS or healthcare experience.
* Extensive experience of working with people and teams in a multicultural ethnically diverse environment.
* Extensive experience of working in a patient orientated environment dealing with face-to-face and over the phone queries.
* Previous demonstrable admin and clerical experience in an office environment.
* Previous experience of leading a small team.
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrates understanding of own role within the team.
* Willing to produce a personal development plan with manager.
* Willing to develop self and undertake in-house training.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
