This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.
About the role (External)
Reporting to the Principal Programme Controls Manager you will lead a team of planners to support our delivery teams. You will possess proficiency in Primavera and Acumen Fuse software, with proven experience as a business lead (eg Enterprise planning system).
Strong knowledge of cost and resource management within project schedules is essential, as is the ability to champion and implement good planning practices.
Knowledge of Network Rail’s governance (PACE/GRIP), Investment, and procurement processes are essential. Knowledge of Programme management meteorology (eg MSP for NR) and experience in contract management, preferably NEC 3-4 contracts is highly desirable
You will lead the planning function within national programme team, providing guidance and direction to other planners, monitoring for quality and consistency of all planning and associated reporting.You will generate national input to Investment plan as part of Business Planning process and acts as principal communication point between Business Planning function and national programme team.
Key Accountabilities
1.Provide leadership and direction to planners across teams.
2.Monitor so that planning activity within programmes is undertaken to acceptable quality standards and consistent with national standards.
3.Manage so that all plans are integrated into Route and national plans.
4.Review resource availability to support plans and take action to address resource shortfalls and risks to delivery.
5.Lead the compilation of cost and resource forecast data in support of the business plan.
6.Manage so that planning resources are deployed to best effect within the programme team.
7.Manage the delivery of a high service standard to support the national programme/Route teams.
8.Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
•Membership of a relevant professional body and/or educated to degree level
•Relevant successful experience in the management, planning and delivery of major construction and engineering projects
•A comprehensive knowledge of programme and project controls processes and systems
Desirable
•Experience of planning within the railway environment
