Trainee Mounting Operative
Role:
To mount print plates in preparation for print press operations. Working in a fast-paced, volume-manufacturing environment, you will need to always be working ahead of production demand. Assist with any plate issues, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment.
You will be enthusiastic and dynamic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team of experienced mounting operatives. You will be punctual, maintain high attendance, and uphold professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure mounting jobs are prioritised and correct plates and sleeves are used.
2. Check all work tickets are correct and correspond with lay sheet before commencing.
3. Operate plate cleaner. All plates and sleeves are to be cleaned using correct solvent along with keeping a clean, tidy, and obstruction-free work area.
4. Ensure plates and lay sheet match and correct PIFA are used.
5. Communicate with mounting coordinator, team leader, and shift manager. Ensure team leader has checked and signed job specification after setup.
6. Understand the use and need of Radius system.
7. Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental, and quality standards.
8. Organise workload in line with the daily print programme to meet targets and customer requirements.
9. Mount printing plates onto the appropriate sleeves, ensuring compliance with the dimensions agreed with the customer.
10. De-mount plates. Store and identify plates for subsequent use.
11. Check order, plates, process control, paperwork, and requirements in advance to allow production to operate effectively. Ensure the shift manager is notified immediately if anything is missing.
Skills:
1. Previous experience in a production environment is essential.
2. Exposure to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards and practices within a production setting.
3. Previous experience with lean manufacturing, i.e., 5S preferred.
4. A reasonable level of fitness is required, as the role involves some physical activity, e.g., lifting and bending.
Shift Start Times: 7am - 7pm / 7pm - 7am.
Salary: £12.50 per hour whilst on agency and following 12 weeks when permanent goes to £13.80 per hour.
Holidays: 34 days holiday including statutory holidays.
Hours: Averages 40 hours per week, some weeks working less, some more due to 12-hour shifts. Days and nights, Monday to Friday.
