PRODUCTION CONTROLLER Our client stands as a preeminent force in the realm of independent defence technology solutions. PURPOSE OF ROLE – Production Controller To effectively transpose engineering MDP and specification data, into the company “progress” system, thus enabling works order releases for both material procurement and manufacturing capacity planning. To track and monitor contract review customer delivery dates identifying appropriate offsets for manufacturing start and finish dates. To define and specify insource, outsource decisions complete with manufacturing offsets, required to achieve customer due date (defined by contract review release). To provide an effective interface with engineering, project managers and manufacturing teams ensuring any impact on the customer expectation is effectively communicated. To support the Operations Manager in programme / operational reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITES Job specific responsibilities · To liaise with engineering teams to ensure MDP, BOM structures and drawing information is complete without errors or omissions. · To liaise with manufacturing and purchase departments to ensure lead times match customer delivery requirements. · To monitor and identify procurement and manufacturing constraints likely to impact customer delivery commitment, as per contract review. Ensure commercial team and project managers are aware of delay issues. · To ensure manufacturing works order -booking controls are effective thus enabling control of the life cycle of each works order. · To print and control drawing packs and issue to respective manufacturing departments. · To update drawing packs (WIP), with modified – up issued drawings and removing outdated drawings from the system. This is a controlled, auditable process. · Where drawings are removed from the manufacturing cycle, resultant obsolete parts and materials are identified and removed from the system for disposal. KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE · 2 to 3 years’ experience of engineering design and development · Experience of manufacturing, fabrication, and finishing of mechanical / electrical products · A qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. · Confident application of mechanical engineering fundamentals including mechanics & materials. · Skilled in preparing technical reports and presentations for internal customers.
