Make a difference with St John Ambulance and become a lifesaver in your community. Gain new skills, support others, and be the hero your community needs!
At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.
We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities, and want to make a difference by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events and provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.
Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.
Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community, and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.
We will ensure you have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles is included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA and what we expect from those who volunteer with us is included in the volunteer charter.
Volunteering Selection Session: 06/03/2025 - 13/03/2025
Induction & Training Dates: Once you have applied, we will invite you for an informal interview at our HQ in Barnstaple on a Wednesday evening that works for you. You will usually be able to start volunteering very quickly, joining us for training evenings at our HQ in Barnstaple once you are registered on our system. Meeting our fellow volunteers and getting to grips with an introduction to First Aid training is really rewarding.
Please be aware that you will have some online training to do, and you will also need to undertake a First Aid Training Course to achieve the Community First Aider clinical skill. We will support you every step of the way, however, so don't panic! There is also optional training for those who wish to pursue higher qualifications in the future.
Welcome Event (Induction): 17/04/2025 - 08/05/2025
