Principal Commissioning Manager - London - to £90k plus package
A leading MEP Commissioning Management Consultancy is urgently seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join them in the London region. You must have experience of managing multiple projects and be a good people manager with strong client-facing skills.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The primary objectives of our Principal Engineer's are to ensure that our commissioning business operates efficiently, and the processes involved in the commissioning of engineering services systems have been safely, diligently, and accurately planned, managed, executed, and recorded. Also, that obligations in managing our people and our clients are discharged.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Acting as a key point of client contact.
2. Leading multiple projects simultaneously.
3. Taking responsibility for project-related safety and liaising with the Health and Safety Champion.
4. Providing a 'big picture' assistance to their line manager with a weekly report and monthly catchup.
5. Proactively progressing commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the General Contractor and Vendors.
6. Ensuring that systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with the design requirements.
7. Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programmes, scopes of work, test scripts, and the like.
8. Working with multiple teams, each site senior commissioning managers reporting directly to them.
9. Supporting programme management and other management duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Developing technical and commercial responses to tender returns.
2. Coordinating weekly high-level meetings with the client stakeholders.
3. Maintaining a team of commissioning engineers/agents, optimizing staff utilization.
4. Accountability for project delivery in full accordance with our appointment to include technical and commercial compliance.
5. Commercial management of project change.
6. Accountability for the quality of service, delivery, and management of client expectations.
7. Responsibility for project-related safety insofar as it relates to our work.
8. Providing positive and effective management and setting an appropriate example to other members of the team.
9. Reporting any performance problems to line management.
10. Participating in staff appraisals and CPD activities with the associate director.
11. Accurately forecasting staffing requirements and identifying recruitment needs and potential candidates to fulfill project requirements.
12. Working diligently, efficiently, and professionally at all times.
13. Being the first point of contact for project escalation issues.
14. Fully adopting and complying with the Company's project, internal management, and quality systems.
15. Attending meetings as required.
16. Ensuring site safety is adhered to and safety documentation is continually reviewed.
17. Ensuring relevant progress site reporting is timely, accurate, and professional.
18. Working with other members of a professional team in evaluating progress, difficulties, and costs.
19. Assisting in continuing to develop the Company's management systems and processes.
20. Taking on the role of Champion (in respect of a particular area of technical specialism).
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Clients often rely on the advice and reported data that we provide in making their decisions. It is crucially important that this information is contemporary and technically accurate.
Qualifications
1. Ideally registered as a Professional or Chartered Engineer.
2. Ideally an engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
3. Demonstrable 'in industry' technical experience.
4. 10 years minimum industry experience within Project Management/Commissioning Management.
5. Will have one or more specific, relevant, technical expertise.
