An opportunity has arisen in the Clinical Education Team to help both students and newly qualified staff have access to a supportive culture supported by compassionate leadership.
As a team, we are continually looking at how we can support our students and newly qualified staff in practice to achieve their full potential.
We are looking for a highly motivated, well-organised and innovative Band 6 to join us to support preceptorship for newly qualified staff and explore how the student and placement experience can be developed, ensuring optimal attrition and retention.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to support learners across a variety of pre-registration programmes and facilitate preceptorship for the Trust focusing on newly qualified clinical staff bands 4 & 5 during their Preceptorship year, newly appointed clinical staff, international staff, or those with additional support needs. The post holder is expected to:
* Engage with a number of diverse learners.
* Respond to detailed enquiries regularly in a face-to-face, telephone, online, email or paper-based environment.
* Manage and respond to sensitive information regarding staff, learners, or students using empathy and tact.
* Ensure there is a coordinated approach liaising with Managers, Matrons, and the Education Programme Lead in planning appropriate educational delivery.
* Work closely with clinical services in the delivery of student placements and assessments, ensuring the relevant standards are met and that programmes are appropriately evaluated and developed.
* Work closely with clinical areas in supporting newly qualified preceptees.
* Collaborate with other Education Facilitators to ensure all education programmes are delivered effectively.

Qualifications
* First level registered nurse, qualification at degree level or HCPC registration.
Experience
* Experience of providing feedback to students on their assessment and competence.
* Experience of developing action plans and reports.
* Experience of providing advice and guidance on complex education programmes.
* Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, training providers, Further Education, and Higher Education institutes/Universities.
* Proven experience of developing and implementing innovative courses and training.
* Recent proven experience of delivering specialised training and educational programmes within clinical and/or vocational training.
* Experience of providing student support.
* Experience of assessing clinical competence in the workplace.
* Proven experience of planning and organising education and training programmes.
Knowledge
* Proven knowledge and understanding of clinical and vocational education programmes.
* Proven knowledge and understanding of clinical services across the acute and community settings.
* Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance standards and processes.
* Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards for training, for example, NMC.
Skills
* Developed teaching and facilitation skills.
* Ability to manage complex education and training programmes.
* Ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade, to enable the delivery of a range of programmes.
* Quality improvement projects resulting in changes in practice.
