Job overview
A Consultant Radiologist is required at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a busy and expanding Department. This post is for a gynaecological imager who can contribute to the whole pathway by performing relevant gynaecological interventions. A second interest will be encouraged.
The posts will include sessions at the two main hospital sites within an overall flexible group job planning format, with an agreed overall sessional makeup. Any potential candidate who wishes to be considered for a part-time or flexible working arrangement is also welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
• Reporting of general radiographic examinations carried out within the main sites and various community hospital locations in Shropshire.
• Work flexibly according to changes in work patterns and requirements, and participate in the general on-call rota (1:19 cross-county on-call).
• Involvement in the organisation and administration of the Radiology Department and teaching of other clinical staff, including participation in regular clinico-radiological meetings with other Consultants.
• Training of junior Radiology staff.
• Development of enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients and patients on breast cancer pathways.
• Excellent team-working skills with a professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
• Delivery of clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
• Following patients throughout their clinical pathways.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week, reviewed annually.

Qualifications
* MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
* FRCR or equivalent
* GMC Specialist Registration in Specialty or be eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview, CESR or European Community Rights
Entry Criteria
* Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via one of the following: - CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) - CESR
* Evidence of commitment to Clinical Audit and Research
* Clinical training equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Clinical Radiology
* Cross-Sectional Imaging of acute unwell patients
* Competence in imaging benign and malignant gynaecological conditions, including necessary interventions
* Second specialist interest
* Pelvic floor imaging
