Are you looking for work over the Summer Holidays or before University or College starts? Do you want to be outdoors over the Summer working directly with young people to deliver Youth Work activities?
The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an exciting opportunity to gain experience working with Young People and to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team where you will help to deliver a range of activities including the Summer Roadshows which deliver sports, arts and activities for children and young people across Dumfries and Galloway in local parks. You will also get the chance to run and supervise activities at our youth groups or help supervise trips. This is a job that will work directly with Young People alongside Youth Workers in a range of different areas and delivering different activities- we need people who have the energy and passion to give Young People a brilliant time over the Summer Holidays.
You should be motivated and interested in working with young people aged 12+ in an informal way. You will want to gain experience in youth work or working with young people using sports and activities or perhaps consider yourself to be good with people. You need to be comfortable working with other people and have good communication skills.
This role will be involved in youth groups within the area you are located and being involved in groups, activities and events that take place. You will work within the local youth work team, including evenings and weekends
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

These are Seasonal posts to support the delivery of Summer Roadshows and Summer Youth Work Programmes across the different areas for 5 weeks between Wednesday 16th July from Saturday 16 th August.
Applicants must be available to for the full duration of these dates.
