About the role
There is an imperative to measure the ocean if we are to chart a sustainable future on this planet, and this demands a modern, versatile and resilient research infrastructure. The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Future Marine Research Infrastructure (FMRI) programme (www.fmri.ac.uk) aims to deliver a transformative renewal of NERC’s research infrastructure so that marine science can serve society’s need to observe, understand and predict changes in the local, regional and global environment.
Hosted by the NOC, the Communications Manager will be an important member of the FMRI Programme Office helping to deliver NERC’s future marine research infrastructure. You will be expected to develop, own and deliver a forward-looking communications plan that can drive the realisation of FMRI’s vision for a world class research infrastructure. You will lead the mapping of stakeholders, using this information to shape messaging, identify and manage the optimal channels for communications, and prepare compelling and accessible content.
About you
We are looking for someone who can integrate the vision for FMRI with the preferences of stakeholders to develop clear and compelling messaging for the programme. You should be able to craft a persuasive narrative that builds momentum and support for the transformation, articulating the value of what we are seeking to accomplish.
You will be an experienced communications professional who can work collaboratively with the leadership team, programme office and other stakeholders to prepare inspiring content that can support the FMRI transformation.
