Overview
You will report to the General Manager and work primarily onsite at our Heybridge site with occasional site work required / offsite. You may be required to work at other locations as directed by your manager or the needs of the business.
You will be responsible for efficiently managing machine parts inventory to ensure that they are manufactured in accordance with the specification and/or revision in line with quality control and cost guidance. Targeting world class manufacturing, planning and implementation, the role involves overseeing purchasing and supply management, negotiating with vendors to secure products and services. You have no direct line management responsibilities. You will be required to train, mentor and support colleagues on a day-to-day basis and as directed by your manager.
Duties
Your duties will include the following:
1. Buying and vendor selection (seeking alternatives as standard).
2. Managing external sub-contractors.
3. Cost optimisation and reporting.
4. Raising machine works orders where required.
5. Process planning and implementation.
6. Lead time planning.
7. Overseeing purchase lead times in accordance with assembly lead times.
8. Ensuring that Health and Safety procedures are followed by all members of the team.
9. Occasional machine assembly.
10. Equipment maintenance.
11. Advising and communicating with customers if required.
12. Ensuring that stock controls are in place and that there is enough stock to meet production requirements at all times.
13. Ensuring that orders for new stock are fed through to the operations team.
14. New product development and costing for R&D purposes.
15. Booking in and inspection (Quality Control).
16. Overseeing packing lists and purchase/pick parts.
17. Assisting Production Supervisor in loading machines for despatch.
18. Any other duties which may reasonably be required which are commensurate with the role. Comply with all Company policies, procedures and training requirements.
19. Comply with all Health & Safety policies, procedures and working practices.
20. Undertake additional tasks and duties as deemed necessary by your manager or by the needs of the business.
Person Specification
Essential:
* A strong background in manufacturing and production.
* Good communication skills.
* Able to work well under pressure.
* Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem solving abilities.
* Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets.
* Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment.
Desirable:
* An understanding of Health and Safety procedure and risk management.
Training, Qualifications and Certifications
You will either have or be willing to study towards the following:
* Forklift licence (desirable).
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
* Any training/qualifications/certifications required by law, best practice or customers.
* Any other training identified by your manager which supports or adds value to your role.
