Community Carer – Support for a Fun & Independent Young Adult
Female applicants only (as per the Equality Act 2010, Section 9)
Due to the nature of the care required, this role is exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010, which allows for a gender-specific requirement where the post involves personal care and intimate support. This is a legal exemption, and therefore, we can only accept female applicants for this position.
Are you a caring and enthusiastic person who wants to make a real difference? We are looking for a Community Carer to support a vibrant young adult who loves music, Virgin River, Gossip Girl and swimming—and isn’t afraid to belt out a song on karaoke! She’s passionate about living life on her own terms and needs someone who can help her stay independent and in control of her things and her life.
About the Role:
You'll be providing person-centred support, helping with daily activities and ensuring she can enjoy life to the fullest. She has a visual impairment, stoma care needs, mobility challenges due to a spinal rod and a heart condition, so some personal care and assistance with mobility will be required.
Current Shifts:
Monday: 4:00 pm - 9:15 pm
Thursday: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Every other Saturday: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Once a month (Skittles Saturday!): 5:30 pm - 8:15 pm
School Holidays: Twice a week, 4-hour activity sessions
Additional shifts may become available over time, offering further opportunities for the right candidate.
Looking for more hours? We also have other customers in need of support, so this role can be combined with additional shifts to create a full-time position.
What We’re Looking For:
Someone reliable, patient, and fun
Experience with stoma care and mobility support (or willingness to train)
A supportive and empowering approach—helping her stay independent
Someone who enjoys music, TV dramas, swimming and the occasional karaoke session!
A driver with access to a car
Why Join Us?
Make a real impact in someone’s life
Flexible, rewarding work with a fun and sociable young adult
Training and support provided
Opportunities to pick up extra hours and build a full-time role
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Get in touch to apply or find out more.
