Fawkes & Reece have been instructed by a leading Civil Engineering contractor to assist on their Site Engineer need in Suffolk.
Our client is a very well-known and established company in the construction industry with the relevant experience and knowledge needed.
The Client in question has been established for over 60 years, with a turnover of £200+ million. The company is a well-known specialist sub-contractor with excellent experience and a great work ethic. They are known for their delivery and hardworking work ethic. They offer great service and have a good hardworking team behind them.
The project you will be a part of is a 12-month roads and bridges programme. As a Site Engineer you will primarily be involved in the daily inspection of the quality of the work completed on site. Alongside the site team, you will initiate continuous improvements to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget. This will ensure the customers' expectations are met, whilst aligning activities within industry standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Build strong working relationships with the Engineering team and sub-contractors.
2. Assist in managing systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
3. Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc.
4. Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
5. Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances.
6. Regularly check the setting out points and benchmarks and check that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to the site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
7. Ensure the workforce understands setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
8. Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.
9. Take a proactive approach to managing Health and Safety on site.
10. Co-ordinate and supervise temporary works as required.
