This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3. Apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75% max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Patient Flow and Discharge Team at Barnsley Hospital. We are looking to recruit a Patient Flow and Discharge Assistant to help support the smooth running of all aspects of patient flow for the site as well as assisting with the daily coordination of the discharge hub supporting patient discharges through the identified discharge pathways.
This is a fast-paced administrative role working within a busy environment alongside a supportive team. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a motivated positive attitude. You must have excellent communication skills with a willingness to learn new skills and have some understanding of safe patient flow and discharge processes.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the Patient Flow and Discharge team here at Barnsley Hospital.
The Role
This interesting and busy role has two elements to it:
Patient Flow: Supports the Site Matrons with facilitating safe and effective patient flow, bed movements, and discharges within the Trust, supporting the daily bed meetings, data gathering and inputting, submitting external SITREPs to NHSEngland, completion/updating of e-forms, etc., and producing system access for NHSP staff.
Discharge: Supports the HomeFirst Review team and involves working alongside team members to ensure safe discharges are followed by the ward, coordinating incoming/outgoing telephone calls and email communications between wards/departments, recording data accurately, and liaising with external partners.
It is important that candidates have excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn new skills, and some understanding of safe patient flow and discharge processes. Candidates must have the ability to follow instructions and work on their own initiative when required.

* At least 4 GCSEs (Grade 9-4).
* NVQ Level 3 or willingness to work towards.
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a hospital setting.
* Previous experience of using Lorenzo/Medway.
